DadsDay RUN CLUB
Back again in 2021!

Last year as the pandemic was starting, Family Connections quickly enhanced our traditional DADSDAY run by adding a two-month long virtual Run Club. This year, Run Club returns!

The pandemic has challenged parents more than ever, as they balance work with childcare and school commitments, oftentimes from homes that are lacking the technological capacity to meet those needs. Family Connections has continued to provide the many programs we offer to the families that we serve, thanks to the generous support of our donors. Help make it possible for us to continue to do this!  Donate or Join!

On the Move: Family Connections Headquarters Has Moved to Cleveland

February 1, 2021, Cleveland, OH — The start of a new year has brought an exciting move for Family Connections of Northeast Ohio, a local nonprofit focused on building strong families through early literacy, parenting support and school readiness services.

At the beginning of January, in order to be closer to the families they serve and their many partner organizations, Family Connections consolidated office operations from their Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights locations into one centralized headquarters in the Shaker West Building located in the Buckeye neighborhood at 11811 Shaker Boulevard in Cleveland.

Since 1982, Family Connections has provided services to families with children from birth to age 6 from their offices in Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights, and in multiple community, school and library locations.  In the past several years, Family Connections has expanded services into more Cleveland neighborhoods, through programs like SPARK (Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids), Kindergarten Readiness and Family Support Playrooms in multiple neighborhoods throughout the city.  Consolidating offices in Cleveland allows the organization to be closer to the families they serve throughout the city and the many community organizations with which they partner.

“The move to Cleveland is just one part of our plan to focus our efforts on strengthening families, deepening existing partnerships, and forging new ones,” says Joanne Federman, Executive Director of Family Connections.  The new location allows Family Connections to focus solely on programming rather than building management as part of the organization’s 3-year strategic plan that provides a roadmap for a sustainable financial future.  While building a continuum of services for families of young children in Cleveland and the inner ring suburbs, Family Connections will continue to have a robust presence in Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, and University Heights through their multiple Family Support Playrooms in the community library locations, and SPARK, Family School Connection and Parent Café programming.

Family Connections of Northeast Ohio is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage families with young children to nurture social connections, enhance child development and improve school readiness.  The organization has been helping families grow stronger together for 39 years by providing parenting support and educational opportunities for families with children from birth through age 6 throughout Northeast Ohio. Family Connections offers year-round and free programs and services for families and children to learn and play together. During the pandemic, Family Connections has continued its continuum of programs with virtual services and drop-offs of educational materials for the families it serves.

Thanks for participating in our  2020 DadsDay Run Club!

The club participants put in the miles to stay healthy and fit leading up to DADSDAY weekend! They accepted our challenge to run (or walk) and raised pivotal funds for Family Connections, whose service to families with young children is needed now more than ever.

Children, friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members were recruited as we came together while keeping our distance—with the same shared mission, but in a way unlike any of our previous 17 years supporting this great cause.
